RGB is shorthand for the three primary colours of light: Red, Green, Blue. Often, when I am taking pictures in black and white, I will image the same scene three times. Once with a red filter, then with a green filter and, lastly, with a blue filter. Once I have developed the film, I can digitize the three images and recombine them to create a colour image marked by the colour ghosts of things that moved between each image.
